Discussion:  Details reviewed including location at Best Western Capitola on  41st. www.bestwesterncapitola.com.  Dates Jan. 28-31, 2010 beginning at 10 am on Fri.  No program.  Attendees to work on individual projects.
Resolution:  15 members signed up.  One space remains.  It can be reserved with a $47 check sent to treasurer Julie Stiller- see above.  The group requested Dolores make reservations for Sat. dinner at the same restaurant as last year, Ma Maison.  Some discussion ensued about Wm. Carver bringing his shoes.  Note:  Each member will be asked to share informally in 5 min. how they came to be working on their weekend project. Group very much appreciates Dolores' work on retreat.

Discussion:  Members shared their impressions of the Carol Larsen talk at SAQA in November and the field trip to “Work of Heart” in San Jose.  Members lauded both events.

RESOURCES
Sculpted Threads by Janet Shipley Hawks
Dyeing in Plastic Bags by Helen Deihan

At Show ‘n Tell members offered projects representing a wide variety of fiber media including painting and dyeing.  Stimulating discussions began during this part of the meeting that spanned the workshop on Creativity that Jaye offered.  Members shared endless nos. of resources, ideas, products, etc.  And that was only during the formal part of the meeting!  Members exchanged trading cards during the lunch break.  We reconvened for Jaye’s over the top inspiring workshop which offered and generated enough ideas for a year or more.  Much of the session involved ideas for establishing a creative practice.  In addition we did some exercises in class that we could do anytime at home for inspiration.  Jaye’s blog includes resources that both she and Sonja generated in preparation for the workshop.  Miquelrius journals is the journal she recommends.  They are available at Flax in the City and other places as well as online at http://www.shopmiquelrius.com/servlet/the-425/Polypropylene-02-Notebook-6/Detail.  Anybody who paid 2010 dues already got their money’s worth in Jaye’s valuable workshop.  Thank you, Jaye.
