Workshop Information
After the Show and Tell, there will be a workshop on "Art Basics" like
Color, Composition or using unusual fabrics like Lutredor etc.
Announcements
Topic: Treasurer’s
Report
Julie announced a treasury balance
of $4800. Dues are $30 and guest fees are $5. Some members have not
paid for 2008.
Resolution: Dolores, Virginia, and
Nancy volunteered to help Jaye contact members who have not yet renewed
membership for 2008. We’ll encourage members to renew but we agreed to
go ahead and remove from the Yahoo roster members who have not renewed
by the end of March.
Topic: January
2008 Retreat
Kudos all around to the hotel
staff, accomodations, participants, and especially Dolores for a highly
satisfying experience! Thank you! If you missed the
opportunity, plan now for the “second annual” scheduled for Jan. 2009
in Capitola.
Topic: CQFA flyer
Project remains under construction.
Jaye suggested we might want to do a simple format of a small card,
i.e. “moo cards”. We could display them in hand crafted baskets, bowls,
etc. at quilt shows & meetings.
Topic: Upcoming
Meetings
Last year’s meetings seemed to go
well with a member or two taking responsibility for organizing each
meeting. The member(s) either made a presentation or organized a guest
presentation. We also discussed the possibility of one luncheon meeting
at a restaurant, possibly with a speaker.
Resolution: We’ll adopt plan for
2008 to assign group members to each meeting.
May 2008-Carolyn and Julie-Painting

July 2008-Maureen, Terri, Virginia

Topic: Featured
Speaker or Workshop Leader
We’d like to invite a regional or
nationally known speaker at least once during the year. Suggestions
include Eva Henneberry, Sue Ellen Peterson, Marcy Tilton, Rosalie Dace
or Gloria Laughman.
Resolution: Terri agreed to take
the lead on this. In fact, she already contacted Eva Henneberry who
would like to come but lives 300 miles away. She will contact us should
she come this way. Terri also raised the possibility of her joining us
on retreat.
We combined a lengthy Show ‘N Tell
with demonstrating some new techniques and the use of a couple of
untraditional materials, including Lutrador. Loretta even showed Puff
paint used in a new way for embellishment. Maureen brought a completed
piece she did using the deconstructed screen printing technique she
demonstrated here in January. We capped off the day by sharing boxes of
new fabric gathered from the free give aways.
