Meeting Minutes

Announcements:

1. Special thanks to Dolores Miller for her hard work on the Asilomar
retreat.

2. Jan Scardina announced two vacancies on the steering committee. Both
she and Jaye Lapachel will be rotating off at the end of the year, making
room for two additional people who would like to fill their roles. The
steering committee meets quarterly or less. Members take turns facilitating
the group. Presently, Julie Stiller, Kathy Murray, Jan, Jaye, Dolores
Miller and Bronwen McInerny serve on the committee. Please contact any of
these folks to voluteer for the vacancies.

3. November Meeting- We'll create Round Robin in a Day projects. Kathy
explained the process as we did it last year. More information
forthcoming prior to the meeting.

Topic: Retreat
Asilomar is unavailable for 2007, but Dolores will obtain a 2008
application. Several members suggested alternate sites for 2007. Dolores
plans to look into these places for November 2007. The format will not
include a speaker or featured workshop. Rather, each participant should
bring a project to work on. We'll do the usual Show 'n Tell. In addition,
each attendee will share a technique or an idea or a new material or tool.
Julie Silber volunteered to be a roving helper. The group authorized
Dolores to book space for 18 people as long as there is not a heavy penalty
for "no shows". If CQFA members do not fill the quota, we will consider
opening the opportunity to other fiber art friends.

Topic: Featured Speaker 2007
Pamela Allen's schedule did not allow her to book with us for 2007. There
is a possibility that we may cosponsor her in 2008 with the Santa Clara
Valley Quilting guild. Their program co-chair, Lynn is a CQFA member and
offered to work with Jaye on this. The group offered Jaye additional
suggestions for local artists that may be able to offer a workshop for our
January meeting.

Show 'n Tell-Members shared everything from quilts highlighting African
fabric to a suggestion for using the product, THREAD HEAVEN, in lieu of
beeswax for handquilting. Kathy brought the first example of a finished
product from the Bag of Stuff Challenge that Linda Cline so thoughtfully
organized. We look forward to a more challenge results at our upcoming
meetings.

The PROGRAM portion of the meeting featured Jean Dunn, Deb Ecklund and Linda
Cline presenting both classic and innovative finishes. Jean and Deb showed
lots of examples while Linda did a live demonstration of fusible binding.
They all gave us detailed handouts and everyone picked up several new
techniques. Great work- thanks! Next Meeting NOVEMBER 4.
